Program / Project Management

Ask any CIO what gives way first when budget or time begins to pressure system projects and they’re likely to say Program or Project Management. After all, those efforts aren’t carrying out the actual work of system implementation or migration or operations or integration, right? But ask that same CIO, after a post-mortem of a failed program or project, where the failure occurred, and they’ll invariably point to a failure of leadership. You’ll hear things like “We didn’t control the project”, or “we failed to manage change”, or “we didn’t anticipate problems”, or “we failed to consider impact.” And all of these are a clear result of the failure of program or project management.

At The Percipient Group, we’ve not only helped hundreds of clients achieve success through active management of programs and projects, we’ve invested those management paradigms within our clients’ corporate DNA, so that as future projects occur, they have the processes and techniques to manage them successfully. Percipient believes in leaving your people as enriched as we leave your systems.

Our Program and Project Management Practice rests on two fundamental pillars; Standard ExPert methodology and Organizational Change Management. These are best-practice foundations that include:

  • A PMO Standards-based Project methodology, allowing rapid deployment of techniques for implementing structure and governance

  • The DICE framework, to establish a sound and consistent quantitative assessment of your projects and programs

  • Percipient Scope Management, to help identify and maintain a laser-like focus on the core components of a project

  • Adaptive OCM, an iterative approach to governing the inevitability of change

But we’re more than a company of technical procedures and techniques; we bring big-picture thought leadership to the management of any level of program or project within your company. Moreover, our goal is to leave your organization with a renewed sense of vitality, excited about the new paradigms of management and governance that they’ve seen put into practice.

We believe we foster productive communication within your organization, instilling enthusiasm and a positive attitude about the benefits of Program and Project management. To us, this is an exciting domain.

Give us a call. Let us show you how to make it the same at your company.

Retail Systems

What is a retail system? On its face, such a simple question.

All manner of individual business systems come to mind – Point-of-Sale, Inventory, Order Fulfillment, Shipping and countless others. But many businesses don’t realize that a comprehensive retail model exists, an idealized map that represents a best-practice architecture of retail systems, developed over decades of experience as an optimum implementation. Think of it as a world-class reference point for evaluating and guiding the systems in your retail business. At The Percipient Group, we not only know this model inside and out, we’ve helped mentor hundreds of clients as they’ve moved to reap its rewards.

The model is comprised of dozens of individual components. Whether your company operates on a scale that calls for a widespread implementation of these integrated systems, or just the fundamentals, it eventually comes down to implementation. The Percipient Group is a company of technical gurus that have decades of experience rolling our sleeves up on these and other systems:

  • Migrating in-house systems to the Cloud (AWS, Azure, Oracle, and others)

  • Omni-channel extensions/enhancements

  • Point-of-Sale recommendations and implementation

  • Multi-system integration

  • Delivery

  • Financial

  • PCI consultation and compliance implementation

  • Inventory and Merchandising Systems

  • Machine Intelligence and AI-driven market management

If it were all simply about technical systems expertise, we’d still be a superlative resource. But a true consultant is more than a technical implementor or systems integrator – they’re there to advise as well as implement. And that’s where The Percipient Group stands out. Our retail team is the perfect mix of functional business acumen and deep technical expertise. We’re there to evaluate, advise and collaborate. We help select, design, configure, integrate and customize where necessary. Unsure about moving to the Cloud? It’s an area we excel in. Wondering how to compete with Amazon? We have business intelligence expertise that can make a crucial difference in transforming yesterday’s business into today’s powerhouse.

Invite us to stop by to learn how we can help. We know Retail.

Strategic Consulting

It isn’t rare to find a consulting company that demonstrates technical acumen, nor one that provides strategic planning. But The Percipient Group is one of an exceptionally rare consulting organization that provides both. And it is this combination of business expertise and technical savvy that provides us the ability to achieve an unparalleled economy of scale for our clients. Business knowledge informs technical systems and technology informs the business. We are not only an implementor, we’re a strategic partner. And we are laser focused on your success.

The Percipient Group knows business - and we do technical systems. We’ve partnered with hundreds of companies over the past thirty years; participating on their Steering Committees as objective analysts, becoming trusted advisers as we provide insight and guidance. We’re thought of as fierce advocates for the long-term health of your business technology platform, leveraging our extensive background implementing best-practice systems and processes.

When the C-level executives gather, we often join them. When critical business decisions are at hand, our advice is valued. And when strategy isn’t just a word, but a way of doing business, we take a seat at the table, helping to map an optimal path forward for your company’s business systems.

First and foremost, we are about people. Our consultants listen, then lead by doing. We collaborate, advise and communicate – forming a combined team of Percipient and client resources. In that way, what we bring to your company stays with you and grows; your people learn new skills, new best-practice approaches to strategic planning and information systems management. We not only leave your business enriched, but your people too.

Bring us in, provide us a seat at the table. You’ll be glad you did.

Supply Chain Execution

Have you ever asked yourself, “Are we where we need to be in the area of Supply Chain Management?

If you haven’t, you’re not alone. In 2014, a Tompkins Consortium survey delivered a startling finding; more than 50% of the respondents – business leaders all – considered the Supply Chain to be a standalone business operating function. In other words, a majority of those participating did not recognize the need for tight alignment between supply chain functionality and other business system strategies and processes.

At The Percipient Group, we have a long history of both recognizing the fallacy of this position and offering a comprehensive business strategy for avoiding its effects. And those effects are severe. Its worthwhile noting two more metrics:

  • Only 8% of businesses with limited-capability Supply Chains report above average growth

  • Less that one quarter (22%) of all businesses take an active approach to Supply Chain network design

Navigating the Supply Chain in order to capture the underlying dynamics of it requires a deep understanding of the functionality it performs – along with the often subtle dependencies it has on surrounding business systems. Too often, C-Level executives describe Supply Chain as something that “just happens”, ignoring the intricate functional flow that it participates in, and in the process, failing to take advantage of its significant potential benefits.

Properly envisioned, the Supply Chain should be designed as an “horizontal enabler”, crossing the boundaries of the organization’s vertical business systems, ensuring that all are operating at the kind of peak efficiency needed for business success. In today’s competitive environment, this greatly enhances the prospects for long-term growth and continuous improvement. It helps provide for lean overheads and positive bottom-line outcomes.

The Percipient Group can help make the invisible visible. We bring decades of global experience with hundreds of clients, helping to create a unique road map that will chart a course for your organization to achieve effective partnerships throughout the Supply Chain. We can bring best-practice guidelines and recommendations to you in areas of system solutions, manufacturing partners, logistics processes and cost-effective operations. In short, we’ll bring our team of Supply Chain experts to you, partnering with you to ensure that your Supply Chain provides all the benefits to your business that it should.

Be proactive; call us. We speak Supply Chain.
